Is it worth doing a placement year in a Law degree?

How worthwhile are placement degrees in a Law degree? Would they increase my chances of getting a training contract? What jobs could you get during a placement year for a Law degree also? Any answers are greatly appreciated

Placement year is better then a 6 week internship as you spend longer (1 year or more) in the industry, meaning you have more experience

I disagree with the point about the internships, at least as regards City firms. Nearly all City firms interview their interns for training contracts at the end of their internships - they are essentially 6 week job interviews and if you do well you will be offered a training contract. Why waste a year on a placement when you have a whole life of work ahead of you.

Placements can also lead to full time rolls, no?

I don’t think the by City firms do 1 year placements so I can’t comment. My point is why spend a year when you can get to the same point spending 6 weeks over Summer.

@davidodei , thanks for the replies you two, but I don’t think I can do an internship since it’s part of my degree as I would be doing a placement in the third year

You can still apply for internships to other firms over your Summer holidays
