QMUL or City for Computer Science? I have to decide this summer, but it's so hard

I've also posted this on the unis' pages, but no response :frown:

I have A* in Math, A in Further Math, currently studying at a top US school but will drop out because it's so damn hard. If I go to City will my degree be disregarded by employers? Or will the potential of getting a higher degree help more than if I go to QM?

Please advise! Thank you!

I would advise you to go to QMUL, instead of City. QMUL is regarded as better and in Computer Science it was ranked 97th globally and 9th in the UK. Ranking vary but QMUL is usually in the top 20 for Computer Science consistently. QMUL isn't also considered Central London unlike City, so accommodation is cheaper. QMUL is also Russel Group which does carry some weight.
Most importantly remember it doesn't matter what University you graduate from, Computer Science is a highly regarded degree and the job market is open. Throughout your degree create a portfolio, enter extra curricular activities try to volunteer in tech companies or even get a part time job. If you manage to fill your CV with activities that are relevant to your field in Computer Science, graduating from QMUL or City won't make a difference.
Maybe I'll see at QMUL in September.

Thank you for your response. Can you please give me more info on whether or not I have to attend classes (I have asthma, and often for medical reasons it's not easy for me), as well as how easy/hard it is to actually pass them? To be completely honest, I just finished my first year at a top US university, but I'm not doing well (overestimated my abilities, took advanced CS and Math courses instead of the first ones, major mistake. Also, I'm surrounded by geniuses, and there's a grading curve), so I can't take the risk of failing another university yet again :frown:

Here is the course structure at QMUL for Comp Sci: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/undergraduate/coursefinder/courses/2024/computer-science/
And here it is for City:

You can decide if you'll find those modules hard, however at most universities for computer science they usually always start from basics in year 1, building up over the years.
You don't 'have' to attend classes and lectures as long as you pass, but you will occasionally be asked to partake in a meeting with someone on the school board asking about your attendance if it is critically low, but if you don't attend lectures because of your medical reasons, the university understands that and it doesn't impact your attendance. As long as you're not failing it won't be a big deal.
