The Student Room Group

Loan Allowances

Hi, Please can someone help me with the correct advice

I did an undergraduate degree in 2010 and ended in 2013, and I took out a student and a maintenance loan which was means tested at the time (This was before Tuition rose to 9K per year)

Now I want a career change and would like to complete 3 A-Levels and Repeat my GCSE in Maths. Does the Advanced Learner loan cover all four courses?

After, I have completed the above courses, I wanted to complete a Postgraduate degree in one of the STEM fields.

Would I be able to get a second loan from SFE to cover the full cost of my course (for the full duration of my course), if I was to choose either a course in Engineering or Medicine?

Hi there,

If you speak to the provide of the courses you wish to study, they will advise if the Advance Learner Loan covers this or not.

Medicine is normally an exception course so should be eligible for finance. Engineering isn't a full time exception but may be part time.

Thanks,
Claire
