Best Uni to do Business Management ?

Hi there. My daughter is considering unis for Business Management with a placement year or year abroad and is looking at Durham, Warwick, Bath, Bristol and Exeter . Is there anyone at either of these on the course?
She wants ideally a campus uni and one which has a strong performance swimming club but could look at a local club.
Hi Bentley M,

My name is Sophie and I am a final year student at Exeter. If I could give your daughter one piece of advice it would definitely be to have a look at the courses and modules each uni offer as they vary depending on lecturers areas of expertise. I will attach a link below for you to have a look at the modules Exeter offer for Business Management. I can see you’ve also mentioned that your daughter is in favour of a campus uni, which Exeter fits perfectly! We have a town centre very close to campus and also the beach which is great in the summer term! Regarding the swimming club, I can direct you to the swimming society at Exeter, where you can find out more information. If your daughter or yourself has Instagram, our swimming society are on there. Their account is very telling of their success and also you can message them with any questions you may have! We also have a brand new pool that has been opened and I know the swimming club do some training there, alongside the pool at our St Luke’s Campus. It’s called St-Sidwells Point, if you wanted to have a look at the facilities.

Hi @BentleyM

I have just finished my first year studying business and management at UCLan, so hopefully my advice will help you out!

When deciding between her choices, I highly recommend she checks out at each university website and looks at the modules taught on the Business and Management course. This way she can really understand which course may benefit her most. Another great way to make a choice is attending a university open day. This way she can experience what it's like being on campus, and also ask all those burning questions!

I would also like to give a recommendation to check out UCLan! In fact, we won the Best Entrepreneurial University at the Educate North Awards (2023). The praise the business course was getting personally drew me to UCLan and it has really lived up to my expectations. I had never studied business before university, yet the teaching quality at UCLan is so fantastic that I picked it up rather quickly. I have also started up a business using the university's advice and guidance from their student enterprise team. There is also the option for a placement year before her third year, which provides an excellent opportunity to get experience and a chance to network with others within the industry.

UCLan's Preston campus is in the heart of the city, so there are plenty of activities nearby. There is also a swimming society which has a swimming team which competed in the BUCS long course nationals.

If you have any other questions about UCLan or university in general then please feel free to ask! I will happily answer any questions from my perspective of taking business and management.

Good luck to your daughter in finding the right university for her,

Hi @BentleyM

I'm happy you found the information helpful! I just wanted to let you know UCLan is not based in London. It's easily confused for UCL, however UCLan is actually the University of Central Lancashire. Two of the closest major city's are Liverpool and Manchester. 🙂

Best of luck,
-Sophia (Business and Management)
