Express in the form: p + q (root2) the following expression:

4 - 3(root2) / 5 - 3(root2)

i got an answer of: 14 - 21(root2)

correct or not?

what are we doing, rationalising? are we also presuming f(x) = 0?

rationalising the surds yes, tehn by eradicating the fraction thingy you can simplify it into the form "p + q (root2)"...well thats the idea.

but i solved (4 - 3root2)/(5 - 3root2) and got the right answer for that!

presumably thats not what you meant!

ok, first before i show you my working out, i wanna check this:

Simplify:
2 - (5x + 2)

----> -10x - 4
----> -5x - 2

correct?

2-(5x+2) =

pretend the - is -1 therefore

-1(5x+2) + 2 =

-5x -2 +2 = -5x
