Gaiety - School of Acting

Hi everyone,

I got into the Gaiety School of Acting and wanted to ask if anyone has gone there and could tell me a bit about the two-year-course. And whether or not it has a good reputation in the industry. Thank you so much!

Hi! I did the full time course and graduated in 2020 and loved the experience. Granted that Covid came in the way of my training... but other than that, it was great! The course is pretty full-time and demanding so you really need to be dedicated to it. The course itself focuses on acting, with acting for stage, acting for camera and voice as your main classes in first year, but you also get to explore making your own work which is great. Loads of grads go on to make their own work afterwards.
It is quite a small school in terms of size but very busy, so you get to know everyone pretty fast and you get to build a real community, which is something I personally really loved and still benefit from.
In second year, you get a good few showcases in front of industry, mostly Irish industry but sometimes UK industry comes to them as well. It's well attended and you have occasions to network and mingle afterwards.
Like I said it can be really busy and full-time and not gonna lie, stressful at times, but ultimately it's a great training and for me, the length of 2 years vs 3 in most colleges was perfect. Now, that depends on your personal preferences.
Hope this helps!
