5th option inquiry

Hi I am year 12 student who would like to study dentistry. I achieved all 9s at GCSE, I currently study biology, chemistry and maths and I am predicted A*A*A. I completed pharmacy as part of my work experience and I enjoyed it so I was considering Pharmacy MPharm (Hons) as my 5th option, I was wondering which universities would consider me?

Thank you so much for your help!
Most pharmacy schools would be very happy to have you with those grades and work experience. I recommend looking at the CUG rankings for pharmacy and picking a school near the top (but not Cambridge) that you’d like to go to

Bath welcomes 5th choice applications for MPharm- Pharmacy MPharm (Hons) (bath.ac.uk)
They will ask for a new Personal Statement but it doesnt disadvantage your application at all - Bath interviews everyone who meets the entry requirements and 99% of those interviewed get offers.

Where did you get the 99% statistic from? can't find it anywhere

Hi @butbut,
My name is Dominic and I am a 4th year MPharm student at the University of Nottingham!

Here at Nottingham we welcome applications from those wishing to study medicine or dentistry and choose pharmacy as their 5th choice. We will accept your application and the central admissions team will most likely request another personal statement outlining your awareness and understanding of the pharmacy degree and role in healthcare. We just want to make sure that you understand the skills and requirements of the career as it is no easy feat!

After receiving your application and you meet our grade requirements, you will be offered an interview, similar to those of medicine and dentistry, however no external exams will need to be sat (UKAT as an example)

With the pharmacy profession ever-changing, we as pharmacist are getting more responsibilities and skills every year, with my year actually being the first to graduate prescriber ready!

Hope your applications to dentistry go well!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Dom 🙂
