Apprenticeship or Degree?

Hey! I'm currently in year 12 and I'm being asked by my school to decide which unis/apprenticeships I want to apply to, with the assumption that I know what I want to do career-wise.

I know for a fact that I want to get into the political field, maybe one day being an elected representative.

I am unsure of the direct path to that end goal, though I have narrowed it down to two options:

1. Do a degree in Politics & International relations at a russel group university
2. Do an apprenticeship in journalism.

If anyone who has done either of these could comment on the pros and cons and which one they would reccomend I do, it would be really helpful!
