Hey @blythedoll 👋

I totally get how stressful exam season can be. Here are some tips based on how I avoided burnout:

1.

Create a study plan: if you haven't already, I'd consider creating a study plan. Scheduling study sessions to fit around your life will help you to stay organised and on track. Additionally, try to set small goals - breaking big tasks into smaller chunks makes them more manageable.

2.

Take breaks!! I can't stress enough how important it is to take short breaks every hour during your study sessions. This will help you to avoid burnout and recharge.

3.

Sleep well: during exam season, it can be hard to have a sufficient amount of sleep. However, you should aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night to keep your brain sharp.

4.

Eat healthy and consume water: having nutritious meals/a balanced diet and staying hydrated throughout exam season can help to boost your energy levels

5.

Exercise: this doesn't have to be any difficult, long workouts - even a short walk or some light exercise is proven to reduce stress.

6.

Friends and family: it's important that you don't forget to take time for activities you enjoy! chatting with friends and family can be a great stress reliever and allows you to have a break. Finally, take care of yourself! when I feel that I am at risk of becoming burnt out, I usually engage in self-care activities such as taking a bath and trying out new skincare products, or go shopping/for a coffee with friends.

I hope these tips help. Best of luck with your exams, you've got this!

Hi @blythedoll

Feeling burnout is totally normal during exam season (I also experienced it during my A-levels), but here are some tips I personally used to try avoid it:

Go outside
Getting fresh air and keeping your body moving is a great way to keep healthy and clear your mind to improve your focus.

Socialise
Talking to friends/family can allow you to let go of the academic thoughts for a bit and just have some fun! Go bowling, watch a movie or anything that allows your mind to step away from studying.

Don't study for long periods without a break
I personally know exactly how it is when you have so much content to cover in so little time, but do not make the mistake of neglecting breaks! Taking breaks allows your brain to unwind for a short period before getting back to studying. This can often improve your productivity too!

Hobbies
Don't forget about your hobbies in exam season. This is a great way to relax your brain and have some fun! This way, when you return to your studies, you have a fresh perspective and often feel more motived to tackle your academic goals!

Be organised
This is the best way to avoid burnout. By laying out your time correctly and sticking to your plan, you can provide yourself with lots of time to do other activities. This also reduces the stress of trying to cram everything in at the last second.

Set goals
Setting clear and achievable goals while studying can offer relief from the overwhelming feeling of trying to meet deadlines. By writing down goals, you can visually see the hard work your putting in and the progress you have made, so don't pressure yourself too much.

Hopefully this helped, please feel free to ask me any questions, 😊

any tips on how to avoid burnout during exam season??

Hey there 😀

I totally understand how stressful exam season can be. It is easy to feel overwhelmed, but there are a few techniques I use to keep my energy levels up and do not lose motivation. And hey, remember, it is only a few weeks and then you are done 🤩 You can definitely smash your exams!

A revision schedule is my must-have. Breaking down study sessions into manageable chunks and spreading them out over the weeks, including breaks to rest and recharge, is a game changer. It simply makes me believe that I can do it and I do not stress about not having enough time.

Regular breaks are crucial to keep you going. Step away from your study space and do something you enjoy for a few minutes. This helps prevent fatigue and keeps your mind fresh.

When I am exceedingly stressed, I meditate with YouTube videos. It really helps reduce anxiety and improve focus.

Remember, it is important to listen to your body and mind. If you are feeling overwhelmed, it is okay to take a step back and rest. Taking care of yourself is just as important as studying.

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.
