Bad predicted grades for medicine.

I have recieved my predicted grades back from year 12 and they are A*AC, I know the standard offer is AAA, however, I was not able to achieve that. I dont know if i should still apply to the universities that dont take predicted grades as a big focus like manchester and nottingham or if i should apply with my actual A-Levels and take a gap year. I am not really sure what to do now. I have yet to take my UCAT.

Appling with a C grade for Medicine - not a hope.

You need to forget applying for Medicine this year, and instead invest in working your socks off for the best possible grades you can get and then apply with achieved grades during a gap-year. And if you can't be bothered to play the long game and do this, then forget Medicine.

First thing is to see if you can get your predictions lifted to AAA. Offer extra tests, look at whether a tutor is feasible, get your parents to speak to the teachers.

If that does no good, then can you get at least AAA in your Alevels? If so, then you can apply to those that do not look at A level predictions. But the whole application process is hugely stressful and time consuming, so if you think this could impact negatively on your grades, you may be better going all out for AAA and then applying on a gap year.

So if you think you can make AAA and do UCAT, PS, possibly interviews, etc without it impacting grades, apply this year, but A levels are key, so if you think grades would be hit, then better to apply on a gap year. A bit depends on your UCAT and GCSEs, as if they are excellent, you have options with Nottingham, Lincoln, Liverpool, Keele, KMMS, Aston, Cardiff, Oxford but you would need excellent GCSEs and UCAT for some of those as well as A*AA at A Level for a few

Do you think taking a foundation year for medicine would be alright with my grades?

Do you meet the requirements for a Foundation course? They are for those with WP flags. If you meet those and grade requirements, then you can apply
(Although retaking AL’s would be cheaper and leave more options open then doing a FY)

Yes, resitting A levels, if reasonable first sit grades, keeps the most doors open. But no reason cannot apply for Foundation courses and those that do not look at predictions, or where they meet WP requirements (not sure any accept a C now, so would need increased predictions), in Yr13 and if unsuccessful, can resit and reapply as needed.
