Depending where your job is there are buses from Wessex and chamberlain (opposite glen Eyre). All buses go through uni though & it's an easy 10min max walk from glen. DD is at Glen (Until I move her out this weekend) & she loves it....she loves the green space

Hi @elljane !

I also had a tough time deciding between accomodation options for first year, I applied to Glen & Wessex and got allocated to Wessex in Montefiore R block and I enjoyed my time there!

Regarding the busses, both the U1A to go to Wessex and the U2 busses to Glen Eyre are very frequent during the day. The U1A runs about every 10-15 minutes, and the U2 or U2B run about every 15-20 minutes. This being said, Glen Eyre is only about a 10-15 minute walk away, and Wessex Lane is about a 25 minute walk away, so if you like walking (or accidentally miss the bus like I did many times!) then it won't take you long to get to Highfield Campus.

Here is the timetable and map for the U1A bus from Wessex, and there is a U6 bus stop only a couple minutes away too, and here is the U2B bus for Glen Eyre.

Have you had a chance to visit the halls in person? When I was deciding between what halls to stay in, I found visiting the halls really eye opening and it helped me to decide what halls and which type of rooms (en suite/shared bathroom, part catered/self catered etc) I wanted to stay in. The best time to visit the halls would be on one of our Open Days.

I'd also recommend having a look at a virtual tour of Glen Eyre and Wessex Lane to help find out a bit more about the accomodation options.

Both Glen & Wessex are great places to stay in first year, and their locations and bus links are both very good. I hope this helps you a little bit, please reach out if you have any more questions!

All the best,

Joshua 🙂
