I think I labelled the prostate gland with the number which was pointing at the red circle that had the vas deferens connected to it. What did you put for the function of the prostate?

I said secretes an alkaline fluid containing zinc ions which can neutralize acidic pH in the vagina

For the radicle before the plumule, I said that the radical grows geographically downwards to anchor the shoot, but apparently it was about nutrient but do you think I would still get marks for that?

Same I said something like it is positively geotrophic which will ensure the upward growth of the plumule lol, dk if that‘s even a thing. I didn’t even think to talk about nutrients and water🤦*♀️

Yeah they’ll probably allow that. For the one in genetic engineering did you say that the cells on plate C must be tested to see if they activate any oncogenes before use in humans?

I think that would be a valid one. I said to ensure that it’s not pathogenic but idek if that’s right

No I think I remember reading that somewhere. I also am unsure about the plate A question I said that it was to compare the colonies with test B and to identify which ones have taken up the dna from the original or something

i said to identify which bacteria have taken up the recombinant and non recombinant dna. Honestly that whole question confused me so much

Yeah same I was really thrown off by the fact I had no clue what to put for the advantages of using the bacterial one and that rubbed off on the rest of the question 😭

Yeah especially for the QER I skipped over that part of inheritance thinking it was common sense and it wouldn’t come up

Also for the question which had a punnett square, there was a question after asking for the number of cases of the disease in Wales. How many significant figures did you put it to? I put it to 2 as logically you can't have decimals places for something like this( I got 64)

I put two as well I had 64. For the bacteria question what did you have because I subtracted them but I think u were meant to multiply

It said on that I think that 1 bacteria cell had I think 2.9x10^8 bacteria so I multiplied the number of bacteria in the culture by that .

What did everyone say for the question asking to explain why there weren't colonies in the ampicillin plate?

i said that the 2 missing were probably anomalies and that the insertion of the ampicillin resistant gene is not always/100% successful idk

If this was the 3 marker I said that these bacteria were the recombinant ones that had the plasmid containing the HCG gene ( which replaced the ampicillin resistance gene) so these colonies were missing.
