does anyone know someone who retook their a levels and was able to have a successful career as a solicitor?

I don't, but my nephew is a barrister. He retook A levels and studied Classics at Oxford before studying law in London.

By the time you are applying for a training contract, your degree will be more important than your A levels.

Hi, I didn't do great in my alevels (BDD). I wasn't able to get a job in any magic circle firms (not that I wanted to work there). It hasn't stopped me from getting a training contract. Some places only care about your degree and LPC (SQE) grade.

HMCTS. If you're interested in criminal or family law look into the role of a legal advisor.

The civil service as a whole offers training contracts as well (Government legal service, HMCTS, CPS).

If you're not keen on civil service there are some big firms that I don't think have a minimum alevel requirement (Irwin Mitchell, Bevan Brittany, DLA Piper, Browne Jacobson, PwC, Gowling).
