Vet Med via Access to HE Science deadline dates

Hey, I’m a little confused about what I’m trying to ask, but I’m sure somebody on the site will be able to give me some clarity anyway.

I’m planning to start the Access to HE in Science via one of the online providers in September/October this year. All going well, it will be completed within 9-12 months.

Could somebody please make clear to me the dates by which I would need to apply for Vet Med at various unis.. and also the dates I would have the grades from the online access course?
Basically, during the access course I would apply to universities (hypothetically receiving a conditional offer) and then upon completion of the access course, I would let the uni know the grade?

When would the vet med course begin in 2025? How late can I receive my access course grade in order to confirm with the university and still get on to vet med the same year? Hope this makes sense, Thanks kindly

Hey, I am not too familiar with the access route but @ALEreapp might be able to advise further.

However, for the 5 year courses the application deadline is always 15th October. Again I’m unsure on how access works, but for A Levels you do also apply with “predicted grades” rather than actual ones in October, and then the unis will find out your grades before you do in August so either accept or reject you based on your actual grades - I don’t know if it is the same for access, but if it is similar then you should be able to start in September 2025 (or April 2026 if you apply to Nottingham April intake) if you applied by 15th October this year.

Heyy! Sorry for my delayed response. So yeah access is not much different in applying than a levels. You have to apply for the October deadline and my tutor just ‘predicted’ me the grades I needed for the highest requirement so that’s 45 distinctions to give me the best shot, he also sat me down and asked what kinda things I wanted in my references or unis wanted to see in my reference when applying (as he’d only known me a month!).

Once your grades are finalised around June, you will be sent the certificate via email and these results are automatically forwarded onto the uni (if not you just forward these onto the uni) and in the coming days they will update your ucas offer. The very latest grades can be confirmed is realistically a level results day in August.
