Hi there,

I would recommend referencing any topic that you have studied in your French A-Level that you have enjoyed most, and why. Have a look at the modules the universities you are applying for offer and reference them in your personal statement, is there a module for example on french literature where you could talk about a book you have previously studied that inspired you?

You need to put across your passion for the subject! For more help with writing your personal statement check out our blog post on the topic > https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7405512

Good luck!

i got 5 offers for spanish and german this year so here are some things i mentioned!

spending time abroad - i completed work experience and went to language school in germany but any time abroad is relevant

i spoke about translation and doing english lang a level for grammar knowledge - you could easily do something with your a levels as they are very well suited

any extra workshops or seminars you can attend e.g. i did one on hispanic literature and film, and another on bilingualism

a section on literature and i presume as you do english lit this would interest you

briefly mentioned my epq

work experience and volunteering

i play football and linked it to communication

importance of language learning

this obviously is not an extensive list and i have a longer list of possible things that could be useful, so feel free to pm me! my biggest piece of advice is don't just state what you have done. it MUST be personal and you have to show how it has helped you and improved your knowledge.
