So in my opinion and as far as I’m aware. There are two enrolment days for sixthform (and many are online now). Actual results day is only enrolment day for internal students (students who went to that school) then the following day is enrolment for external students. So you don’t have to worry about rushing to get your results then rushing to a different school. On enrolment day it is good to get there early especially if you do courses that are popular.
In my experience sixthform in general are more lenient with internal students compared to external students. There are two things sixthform can ask form APS (average point score. The avarage of all your grades combined) and your actual grades. In my experience if the school has a APS for general entry they can be quite strict on this. If you don’t get the APS required they will either turn you down or take you in on different (lower entry) courses. If a specific course has a specific APS if you got the needed grades but not the APS they are more lenient on this. If you got the APS but not the needed grades they are less lenient. It differs from school to school as well as how many students they have starting and how many students are staring on your specific courses.

Yea results and enrolment is scary. Not to scare you further but warn you. Another sixform I applied to literally called on results day to say they were cutting one of my courses so couldn’t apply. Like wtf. This is why apply to more than one is so important

from my own knowledge of enrolment day, students normally come in early (eg an hour earlier) than their appointed enrolment time in order to get their desired subjects. subjects like bio, chem, psychology are popular subjects so are more likely to be filled up first. the run was just an over- exaggeration but people often do show up early on enrolment day in order to get their subjects

But isn't that(the subjects) already confirmed when u get accepted by sixth form? I thought u do entrance exams for each subject and if you get accepted, you do those subjects?

entrance exams are for independent sixths form. schools don’t just accept 300 students for year 12, they would pick around 600 students and then from that 600 on enrolment day, students would come to the school to confirm their place in the school. schools accept 600 students first as not all 600 would actually come in on results (they might choose another school, they didn’t get the minimum grades etc, etc)

So if a school has a APS general entry requirement. Like just to get in. That will be the first thing they look at. If it’s for a specific subject they will look at your grades first then the APS. If you don’t meet grade requirements or APS they may still allow you to go to the sixthform on different courses

so even if you do get an offer from a sixth form, it is not 100% confirmed that you are going to that school?

ok. so let's say i took entrance exams for bio, chem, maths and physics and I got to an interview and finally got an offer. so I accept the offer. but, Later, on the results day, i still have to go to the sixth form to do those subjects? and if i get there late and those subjects are already full, i might not be able to study those subjects in that sixth form?
sorry i am a bit confused
