Pleased, yes - I would say that there's been a great mix of different series just amongst the ones I've watched so far, a lot of variation, with fun characters and interesting plot ideas. But I wouldn't say that anything (so far) stands out as 'best of all time' material. Tensui no Sakuna-hime, Mayonaka Punch or Shoushimin Series are off to strong starts though, the potential is there. And I *might* have saved the best until last, offsite reviews for Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi sound promising.
Kono Sekai wa Fukanzen Sugiru (Quality Assurance in Another World)

Nikola is an ordinary hardworking girl, living in a small and peaceful village - until that peace is interrupted by the appearance of several huge hoimoidragons! Nikola is too scared to run, but her life is saved by a mysterious stranger, who seems to know a lot about the dragons. The outsider, named Haga, claims to be a Seeker, sent by the King to investigate strange monster behaviour patterns. Soon after, another dragon attack threatens the village, and Haga fights it off with help from the villagers... but despite their victory, a tragic fate still awaits the villagers, as Haga's true job role and the secret of the world they inhabit are revealed.

I saw the 'twist' coming, though the clue's right there in the series title. Guess this counts as isekai with game-like elements, two things I usually avoid like the plague! But the trailer won me over, and this first episode didn't disappoint. The whole debugging premise and Haga's backstory intrigues me, hopefully it'll lead to more interesting plotlines than most isekai gimmicks do. Music was great, though I'm a sucker for bagpipes. Animation was decent for the most part, but with a few static parts here and there; the character designs and line work really appeal to me. Perhaps the time is right for me to revisit anime's most popular subgenre with an open mind?

Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi (The Elusive Samurai) [content warning: explicit violence, suicide]

Set at the very end of Japan's Kamakura period, in 1333, Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi tells the story of Hojo Tokiyuki, the young heir to the shogunate. His father is little more than a puppet ruler, and most people expect Tokiyuki to end up the same; the youngster goes out of his way to avoid the lessons in archery and combat that would be essential for any respectable leader of the time. However, his life changes suddenly when the Hojo clan are betrayed by their own retainer. Tokiyuki is rescued by a shady Shinto priest, who claims to be able to see into the future - and that Tokiyuki's less than honourable skills in running away will be key to his destiny as a great hero.

Yep, I did indeed save the best until last! This had everything: laugh out loud comedy, great setting (don't think I've seen many Kamakura / Muromachi period anime), a simple but exciting story, and incredible action scenes. I know I've been praising the animation quality for loads of shows this season, but CloverWorks have really outdone themselves here, it was god tier. OP and ED themes were also likely my favourites of the season, very upbeat and fun. Character designs were lovely, and it had plenty of amusing reaction faces too. By far the best premiere, of those I've seen, and the upside of leaving it so late is that I can jump straight into ep 2 tomorrow!

And that *might* be it for me this season! I was considering picking up one or two other series, but since Isekai Suicide Squad and Grendizer U aren't streaming anywhere in the UK legally, I might just reduce my list and leave myself a little more time for other hobbies.

...unless there are any other (non-sequel) anime from this season that people want me to cover here? If so, let me know, and I'll make it happen. :yy: If they impress me enough, I may well keep them on!
Last weeks in summer season, @AngryJellyfish!

the question which prey on my mind for days is: dud you already find an anime better than Baccano! ?

Yep, only a month to go, and I'll have my autumn season thread up in late September.

I've not found anything better than Baccano!, not from anime in general, and definitely not from this season (as good as some of the new series have been).

Admittedly it is hard to best this anime, but if an anime ever did it in the future, I will suddenly know the name.
