UAL foundation art diploma - gcse art only

Hi just wondered if anyone has managed to access this course just with gcse Art?

It seems strange that it is a L3 course but requires a L3 A level for entry.

Hi @saju21

Is it UAL itself you are applying to do the course or just that course at another institution?

I would say it depends where you are applying. I did the art and design foundation course at a local college and the course leader was open to students who may not have studied an art related subject at A-Level, as long as they had a strong interest and a small portfolio of work to show this.

So I would say apply, make a portfolio you could use your GCSE work, but if you have any more recent work that would be great. It could even be in a different medium like digital or photography, just whatever shows your skills best. Maybe contact the institutions course leaders first to make sure they consider this type of application, and maybe see what they are looking for in a portfolio.

Also it is a level 3 course but the final project is level 4 so you end it on university level work.

I hope this helps and good luck!
