urmston grammar sixth form
Hi im joining urmston grammar sixth form in september and i was wondering does anyone know how its like, is it good and are we allowed to leave before 3 and just some stuff about it that would be helpful please, my subjects are biology, chemistry, maths, thanks

hi i graduated from urmston this year so here's some things i can think of now
1) you can't leave before break (by the rules) but no one really cares and just goes out anyways, you get a card and its a hit or miss if it lets you back into the building before 10:50 (break)
2) you can leave school if you've got a free period, you can go home if you have a free last period(s)
3) you can buy stationary in school for CHEAPPPPP, im talking like 50p-1.5pound menu of binders/paper
4) i didn't take sciences but i know biology/chemistry have lots of quizzes, more than other subjects that i've heard of
5) there are vending machines/hot drink machines in the sixth form hub
6) for socialising, you wanna pick a spot between the sixth form hub, newton hall (sixth form socialising space), or cloisters outside, newton is the noisiest and most packed but you'll be most social there
7) bring ur blazer to school and keep it at school in your locker cuz you defo will forget/cba to bring it everyday, bring it home to wash weekly
8) teachers r more friendly especially to sixth formers but wear ur blazer or the sixth form team will hunt u down personally
9) the wifi is absolute garbage in newton hall so be prepared to use your data
10) the dress code is stricter in first months/term but in my terms of year 13 i wore graphic long sleeves, casual shirts and flares to school and no one cared
11) have fun in y13 maths, if you want it to be easy you should've started revising for it in y7 🙂
12) there's a wetherspoons/rounders/aldi/sainsburys/costa/greggs/pizza/chinese takeaway/poundland/home bargains super close by, if you dont fancy school food (the sausages r SO good with gravy though)
