Hiya,
I was a bit bored so I made some predictions for a grade 9 for the AQA exam board, obviously these are just predictions, they might be higher or lower! So just chill and have a nice summer (I just want to see if I actually get any predictions right lmao)
I used data from 2019-23 to calculate a mean based of the pattern then added it on to 2023 boundaries :3
BIOLOGY: 134
CHEMISTRY: 155
PHYSICS: 153
ENGLISH LANGUAGE: 123
ENGLISH LITERATURE: 139

139 for lit. Bruh that unseen was so confusing that I probably will eliminate any chances of a 9 with it with such boundaries. Also language will probably be a bit higher. And weren't you the one who just said that you didn't understand binomial expansion, so how can you be bored. 🤣

I understood it after an hour of rewatching 1st class maths 😔 other than that tbh I’ve just given up all hope of getting a 9 in further maths - I reckon I got like 55 on the 2nd paper it was so horrific , so I’m not getting a 9 anyway it will probably be 137+

The boundary for physics has literally never been over 150…

Sciences have never gone above 150 why would they now if they’re going back to 2019?

The proportion of 9s and the exact grade boundaries are two different things. AQA never stated that the grade boundaries would go back to 2019… they stated that the proportion of 9s awarded would go back to 2019 because during Covid times grade inflation was high so if everyone is walking around with a 9, 9 is not meaningful anymore. So the grade boundaries for sciences will most likely be higher as it is an almost constant pattern. However the amount of people awarded a 9 will go back down to 2019 so less people will achieve a 9. Grade boundaries will increase, proportion of 9s will decrease.

yes sure but this year's papers were either consistent or harder than last years which would be taken into account so max they could increase by is 5 either side. its not jsut the proportion bc the proportion is ofc about 3% to get a 9 in physics i believe but even for aqa increasing it over 150 sounds slightly unreasonable

also biology which is at 132... how have u kept bio which was defo either similar to or easier than last year the same but increased physics by 6 marks😭

Bio was defo harder personally but for bio grade boundaries it has only gone up or down by 2-4 marks. Physics however has gone up or down by 3-10 marks. Physics has had more of a drastic change, so if less people get a 9 this year then grade boundaries may have a mid to drastic change (likely high).

10 marks over does it tbh i think 5-6 marks but even 6 seems too much considering the general reception after p1 physics
