preferred name ( UWE )
i'm going to UWE next year, and i don't go by my birth name for personal reasons, not in relation to gender identity. when i'm in uni i want to go primarily by my preferred name, but my parents cannot find out. if i tell the university to use my preferred name, will there be anything sent to my parent's address with this name on it?

im not sure, but you can contact the university and ask them not to send any mail to your parents, or you can ask if they can change the name written on any letters

Hey! Just wanted to say there’s absolutely no reason to panic about this, just email your APT and let them know your preferred name and pronouns so your lecturers know and your emails and everything will be addressed to that name! If you want to keep it from your parents for personal reasons (which I totally get) there’s also no reason to panic - nothing that will ever get sent from Uni usually won’t go to your parents and so what will have your chosen name on will be only from what you can see and choose to show them.
When you graduate your certificate will be named to your legal name regardless of preference, so unless you change your name legally then honestly there’s no reason to panic.
