LNAT & Near misses

Hi there,

I have recently received an offer at Durham to study law, I qualified for a contextual offer of AAB. After my exams which I have just finished, I feel as though I may have just missed this offer (I think I have got ABB). Are Durham more or less likely to accept me as a near-miss candidate BECAUSE of my contextual offer (ie they want more diversity) or LESS likely because my offer is already reduced from the standard requirements? Also, I got a really high LNAT score (28) will this come into play if I get put through as a near-miss candidate, like will this support my chances at them accepting my grades or not? Would it be best I reinforcing it with the admissions person on the phone? As you can tell I'm really stressing so any help would be much appreciated!

If you miss your offer for somewhere like Durham for Law you will likely be rejected. They will probably have enough students who meet their offer t take up their places.

Nobody including admissions can tell you for definite now as it will depend on others results but the likelyhood is would end up being rejected.

Its pointless trying to second-guess this sort of stuff - you'll just tie your head up in knots.

Yes, some people may be accepted - even on a competitive course - who just miss their grades. How exactly Uni decides who to take in these circumstances is complicated, and often not decided until staff are actually processing results. Yes, they may look at your LNAT score, on the other hand they may just look at grades. Stop worrying about it. You cannot change anything now, and you cannot influence a Uni's decisions.
