History Witchcraft Coursework HELP

I want to base my AQA history coursework on the witch-trials in Britain, my timeframe is currently 1597 (daemonologie James 1) until 1690ish but I don't have my question yet - I want to base it on female subjugation or economic benefits but I'm so stuck PLEASE ANYONE

Interesting topic! But don’t stress, from someone who submitted theirs months ago, you have time.

It might be worth looking at witchcraft questions on ocr History papers, which I did? I studied ocr and my depth study was on witchcraft and they have a topic on the east Anglian hunts however the text books from that course might be helpful to the topic you’ve chosen.

I’d suggest searching up popular culture and the witch craze (ocr) and those textbooks will be useful and might be a helpful starting point for backing your argument you decide on.

I don’t know how different it is between ocr and aqa coursework but don’t make the same mistake as me - make sure your question allows you lots of easily accessible sources.
Hopefully this helps ^

Ive heard that Brian Levack and Briggs have opposing views but i don't actually get their views they both seem pretty in general with their argument. I think I'm doing the main reason was flawed judicial structures but i cant seem to find an actual arguemenyt from historians. would you know of any historians with a particular view

Hi, that’s one of the topics my school also does, my teacher told my class to think about two things.
1. Why have they chosen those times (this should apply to all nea topics)
2. Wether or not the factors your talking about were also around before hand (like one my schools doing is sexism, and he told us to think about wether it happened before the times chosen, to give you a hint it did exist before)
I hope this makes sense and helps
