How accurate are predicted grades for gcses?

Hi, my predicted grades are 4 9s, and 6 8s, and I've underachieved and overachieved this in year 11. In December, I got 2 7s, 3 9s and the rest 8s, and in march I got 1 6 (english language) and the rest 9s. I'm not sure if I just got lucky in march mocks and everything I revised came up, or whether I actually improved since december. Certainly for some subjects like economics and chemistry I was supposed to get an 8 but in actuality got a 9 because our school used different grade boundaries, but for most subjects I just barely scraped a 9. I feel i've done worse in my actual gcses than mocks, so are there any experiences of people on here getting higher than their predicted grades? I wanted to get all 9s but realistically I know that's not possible, and our school did say that people rarely deviate from the predicted grades, so this is really sort of a futile attempt at getting some sort of validation. Was it just luck?

Currently doing GCSE exams now and from what I've heard, your final grades are usually similar, if not better, than your mock grades. Teachers tend to mark harder to prepare you for what the final exams are going to be like. I wouldn't worry too much though: the exams were definitely hard but everyone agreed on that so I think the grade boundaries will be lower to accommodate. I'm sure you did great!

GCSE predictions can be accurate but the thing will gcses more so than a levels is that a lot of people start putting in actual effort 2 months before exams and can raise their grades significantly through last minute effort .

So I’d take predictions with even more doubt than a levels but if you have been working hard throughout y11 and put effort in your mocks they’re probably decently accurate.
