I got an E in Chemistry for AS, should I give up?

I take Biology chemistry and psychology and was hoping to go into medicine. I think I've got predicted As for biology and psychology but the E in chemistry is the problem. I was predicted a B in chemistry before, so this E is a shock to my teachers and I. The head of sixth form is adamant on not doing September mocks-- even though the whole year is complaining about it. Other students and all teachers want to do resits in July and September mocks. I don't know what to do.

Chemistry is probably the most important A level subject for Medicine - even a B grade rings alarm bells to Unis, and with an E grade you obviously stand no chance of even being considered.

First - find out why you have been predicted an E grade for Chemistry.
Exactly what is that based on, and therefore if you could do some extra work over the summer and have that grade revised in September, Be polite and calm about this - ask for their help and advice about how you can sort this out, don't just rant at the school for being 'mean'. They will have reasons for down-grading you, find out what they are, and then do something about it.

I agree with this.

I know some people who have had very low grades in mock exams but have worked their way up to get a higher grade. There is always the option or re-starting the year again if you need to but the best thing to do is get feedback on where you went wrong in the exam. Best of luck

Coming from someone who was consistently getting Cs/Ds at the beginning of y12 in chem and ended by getting an A in my final mocks by the end of y12. This isn't the end. I would say make very detailed anki flashcards and become really confident with content and really familarise yourself with it - understanding is so key for chemistry as well as biology. When I mean making ' detailed' flashcards I don't mean making them really lengthy - keep them concise but detailed enough - aim for 3 points/sentences max, unless its a template for a 6 marker or a process or practical/techinque. Do the flashcards and once you're confident, start doing papers. Initially you can do them without a time constraint and open book but after some time do them under timed conditions and exam conditions. The biggest thing is reflecting on the papers - mark them and keep a track of all the mistakes and make a word document on it and before attempting a new paper look at the mistakes you've made before. Good luck and I HOPE YOU MAKE AN ACADEMIC COMEBACKKKKK!

Tell you parents to get a group of parents together to complain about the lack of September resits

Just keep going tbh. I got an E in As in the ucas grade defining mocks because of poor revision technique but now in y13 I figured out how to revise and I am expecting an A/A star most likely an A icl. So just make sure to do pmt questions and past papers and use youtuber like easy mode exams to shape your revision for high yield topics. Good luck
