How lenient are UCL with conditional offers?

I feel like my Alevel exams were, for lack of better words, a trainwreck. Would it be wise to start looking at clearing? I need an AB and with the way the exams have gone, I'd expect an ACE. According to UCAS, linguistics have accepted a BBB student before, but I'm not betting on that.
