Do you need gcse cs to do a level cs

I didn’t study cs in gcse but want to do it for a level what do I need to know for a level cs

You would probably need to know some basic programming and maybe a bit of theory (hardware, software, ethical ect.) just the basics of gcse cs. Most a level subjects differ a lot from gcse subjects so your sixth form will most likely go through the basics again as there are probably others who didn’t take gcse cs aswell.

A quick flick on bitesize should be sufficient. You could watch a few Craig'n'Dave videos as well.

i mean it helps for sure, most a level courses recquire you to take the gcse but if you can convince your college to let you take the a level then you may just need to catch up at bit. I took an a level that i didn't have a gcse in, I was just told I had to prove that I would be able to keep up so they put me on a trial for a month. Maybe suggest something like that to your colleg

Craig and Dave videos - they have this website called TimeToCode which is very good to learn some programming
For theory bbc bitesize is good, Craig and Dave videos also cover theory

No you only need maths i never did CS in gcse but i did it for a level coz i got a 7 in maths

It would help - however you can get by just studying ahead and doing a lot of programming.

Personally I dropped A-Level CS because I wasn't doing this - yet I stumbled into a career in SE and most of what I know has come from textbooks I had and the internet.
