Increasing my Maintenance Loan with SFE

Hi There, I applied with SFE for my student loan for 2024. This has been approved so all is well. However I was loaned 4,767 for the maintenance and now realise I should have applied for the Maximum, due to my parents income. Can anyone advise me of what I now have to do to ask for the Maximum. Thanks

Hi Zoe,

Have you tried to change your Loan request online? Have you spoken to us directly for how to make the changes? Did you do any forms to change the amount?

Thanks, Ross

No I havent filled in any forms as I am a little confused as to where to find them. I followed simple instructions which were log in / Change application / Expand application but after that the drop down box did not allow me to put in New Total Loan amount. Am i doing something wrong. Thanks

Hi Zoe,

You need to complete the 'include household income' form and your parents need to complete the PFF2 form. You can upload both forms for review directly to your online account. Our current processing timescales are approximately 38 working days, with subject to change depending on our current volumes.

Hi There, Thanks for the advise. I am now very stressed as I filled in my form and my parents filled in the PPF2. All is saved ready to upload. However when I now go to Log on to my www.gov.uk/student-finance-register-login page. I cant even find how to check the student loan that was on there a couple of days ago, so dont have any facility to upload anything nor see the loan. Am I doing something wrong.

Hi Zoe,

If the PFF2 form was only uploaded recently it is taking approximately 42 working days to process.

Thanks, Drew

No I havent uploaded the amended one yet. Originally my Mum filled out the PPF2 but we now need to upload the new one and ask for more maintenance My loan has all been approved, we want to expand the Maintenance Loan to maximum as based on my parents income I originally applied for is too little so need more. Many Thanks and sorry for being a pain.

Hi There, No I have not uploaded any forms. But I did go on a few days ago and asked to expand the Maintenance loan - Do you think that could be it. But I have not uploaded anything since then, which is the PFF2 Form

Hi Zoe,

So did your mum already support your application but you have uploaded another PFF2 form? When you applied did you ask for the higher rate of Maintenance Loan or the basic amount?

Thanks, Drew

When I applied I asked for the basic and my Mum then filled in her form and supported my application. Then after this was authorised and I had the payment schedule for both Tuition and Maintenace we realised that we are entitled to the Max amount so my Mum sent her P60 again on her support a student account. Now I have filled in my form Applying for student finance based on household income, my parents have filled in PFF2 form and on additional notes have put why they have filled it in again. But I cannot seem to upload this at all on my account.
Many Thanks for all your help

Hi Zoe,

When you log into your online account click on the current academic year. When this pages loads up on the right hand side you should see an expand button. If you click on this it should give you a drop down menu and you should see an upload of evidence option here. You can use the link below as it will show you what to do.
