What is it like to study at the University of York?

I’m thinking of going to the University in September and would just like to hear peoples’s experiences both good and bad about the university itself, the city, the people ect..
Anything would be helpful, thank you.

The University of York offers a strong academic reputation, picturesque campus, and vibrant student life. Positive aspects include excellent teaching, a supportive community, and a beautiful, historic city with plenty of cultural and social activities. Challenges include unpredictable weather, relatively high living costs, a spread-out campus, and a potentially intense workload. Students suggest getting involved in societies, exploring the city, utilizing university services, choosing accommodation wisely, and staying organized to balance studies and social life effectively. Overall, York provides a rewarding university experience with opportunities for both academic and personal growth.
Hi there, so pleased to hear you're thinking of joining us! I'm an undergraduate and happy to answer any specific questions. Overall my experience of York has been fantastic. The city itself is quite small but I've always found there's something to do, and there's lots of good restaurants and cafes if you enjoy eating out. The university itself is great, and for me a large part of that is because of the college system, which gives you a community within the larger university community. We also have well over a hundred student societies so there's truly something for everyone.
