Operating department practitioner

Sheffield Hallam operating department practitioners, do u guys see a lot of blood on placements?

So I wanted to be work as an anaesthesia associate. However I understand that there are surgical assistants and recovery.

I don’t want to work as a surgical assistant however I’ve heard that i have to on placements. Do you guys see the surgeries on placements? Or can i just choose to work as an anaesthesia associate and not do scrubs??

Hi there,

I don't do this course myself, however we do have someone on the ambassador platform who does.

If you go on this link:https://www.shu.ac.uk/study-here/student-chat ,you can chat to Raniya who studies operating department practice and she can give you some more information about the course itself and specific questions that you may want answering 🙂
It's really easy to create an account and message students- just type in operating department practice or look through all of the student profiles and she will be there to answer you questions. You can also ask anyone any questions about uni life or Sheffield Hallam in general.

I hope this helps!

Lucy -SHU student ambassador.
