Not going to SIXTH FORM (YR 13) Prom cause my friends are toxic.

I've been contemplating this for a while now. None of my friends really grew up during sixth form. Some say racist crap which i hate and others make 'jokes' about me or like my family members. For example saying **** about my sister or divorced parents. I made the decision of getting one of my best friends over to chill, maybe have takeaway and play Mario kart instead of going to prom. I don't think i will regret the 'experience' of prom but has anyone had a similar situation or got any thoughts on this?

My school is rather small so we aren't having a prom, but some people wanted to do a separate dinner party with the year. It's been called of but the irony of sitting with a bunch of people who have taken advantage of vulnerable people and been bullies for the past 7 years is funny to me. I decided Id rather sit content at home, and the party isn't even happening. I am neurodivergent and laughed at for how I talk, walk, and start convos - but I will never be as horrid as those people. You are doing the right thing by not going, and you might even be a convo starter 'where is xyz??'. Presuming you're off to uni in a few months, these people won't matter to you the moment u leave school.

Really appreciate this comment. My brother is also neurodivergent so his troubles are similar to yours. I also agree, with you saying how you would rather be content. Can't wait to meet new friends at university as well.

To anyone finding this thread in the future... I DO NOT REGRET MY DECISION A BIT! best decision I made. I had such a great time with my best friend and brother. I would say just make sure you do something on the day you enjoy but even if you didn't as long as you really dislike the ppl at prom you are fine not to go.
