Failed one final year exam, but passed all other modules

Good day,

I am a final year BEng student with the University of Greenwich.

I passed all my coursework but failed 1 out of 4 final exams.

I am still awaiting my final results letter.

Would I be awarded the degree, or would I have to resit that failed exam?

It all depends if you need to pass each component of a module to pass the module. If you dont and the coursework you passed is 50% or more of the module and you scored high enough to get 40% for the module overall from it then you will get your degree. However, you would need to of scored around 80% or more in the coursework for that 40% to pass the module. If you do need to pass every component then regardless of what you got you still need to retake the exam and will have your graduation deferred.

Thanks for the information.

My coursework grade is 67%, but the failed exam reduced the module grade to 35%, so I guess I would have to do a resit.

I only failed the exam because some changes were made to the course structure, which resulted in changes to the examination that I was unprepared for, as most content of the exam was not covered during the course.

I however made a formal complaint with UoG and am awaiting some form or resolution.

But as it stands in my unconfirmed have a failed exam grade, I have a failed examination.

Dont worry, losses and fails make you more aware, and your mentality stronger in the long-term. Good luck Creg, you got this! I also had to re-take in August of last year not just for one module, but 3!!! So you got this, good luck!

Just providing an update to my situation.

I queried the preliminary results and reported the issue to UoG. The matter was investigated, and it was found that the foriegn faculty didn't fully prepare us.

My grade was adjust by UoG for that one exam.

My final grade was takem from the best 90 credits of my final year, so I got a 1st class honors because all my other grades were good.
