any point in clearing

Is there any point in me going into clearing - i wanted to do smt with comp sci or business management. I know I did very badly so i'm expecting a DDD.Maybe 2 Cs if i'm lucky. I know clearing is low but its not gonna be that low is it?

not sure where you are based, but if you are in london i know that westminister asks for CCC, and if you dislike exams, this would be perfect for you since its 100% coursework and practical.
its integrated foundation course asks for DDE, and its a good uni too.

its worth looking for unis around your area, by browsing on ucas using filters (eg location, ucas points, etc)

Hi there,

I understand that you are feeling nervous about your grades, this is totally normal. It is important to note that there are 100% still options for you despite the final grades and clearing is a great pathway to take!

Clearing is worth attempting if you don’t get the grades you are expecting. Many students find spaces at university through clearing even with lower grades. Make sure to stay positive and be proactive with the clearing process. Look into the courses you may want to take and make note of the universities. This is so that on results day you are ready to phone up the universities and aim to get a place! UCAS provides a list of courses available once clearing opens. There is lots of information at hand via the UCAS website which is worth looking into!

Make sure to have all of the information such as your UCAS personal ID and your grades so that the process is as smooth as possible. Have a list of questions ready to ask to make sure you’re making the right choice of university.

It is also worth considering other options such as foundation year courses which are offered in situations where students may not receive the grades they need for their desired course. Other options such as gaining alternative qualifications to be able to get a route into your course or gap years to resit are great options too. It is all about figuring out what works best for you.

Best of luck with your journey to university!

All the best,

Hi there,

I know waiting for results is a stressful time but I am sure you did better than you think! I entered university through Clearing after fearing I didn't secure good enough results so I understand the worry you are feeling but there is a lot of support out there if you are concerned about not meeting grade requirements.

If you have already received offers from some universities, you can always contact them about any grade inquires and discuss your worries with them and they may be able to help. When it come to Clearing, vacancies will start to be advertised from July and you can see what universities have the courses you are interested in available and you can always contact to see if they will accept lower grades than those advertised. Here is the link to our Clearing guide: Your Guide to Clearing - Swansea University it has access to a Live Chat to our admissions team if you are interested in hearing about possible options if you do not meet your expected grades.

Wishing you the best of luck for Results Day!

Hey girl it isn’t just you. Realistically I’ll get CDD to DDE. I measuring for July 5th is I can make a list. I think we’ll be okay because I have seen MANY people from last year say they got into unis with clearing with grades as low as EEU. I think it’ll just be a case of foundation years but as long as I get to leave in September IDGAF😭. Just make a list of 10+ unis and call FIRST thing in the morning. As soon as you get your results CALL. And you should get somewhere it’ll be okay 🙏

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that you don't feel like your exams went well. You should do what is best for you and there is still the opportunity to apply to uni through clearing if that is something that you would like to do. I know at York St John you need 104 UCAS points which is typically BCC for both of these courses. However as long as you have 104 UCAS points it doesn't particularly matter how you get them. The link to these courses are below if you are interested.
Computer Science BSc (Hons) | York St John University (yorksj.ac.uk)
Business Management BA (Hons) | York St John University (yorksj.ac.uk)

In terms of an apprenticeship if that is something that you would like to do don't let your dad's work mates or your school put you off doing one. One my brothers did an apprenticeship in computer science and is doing very well for himself so it can really depend on they type of apprenticeship which you decide to do as well as where you do it so that is defiantly something to look into.

I hope this helps and good luck with your results 😊
