Advice pls

Basically, Im in set 3 in maths in my schl (there r only 3 sets lol, and all sets do higher, so theyre not that different, by means of capabilities), and after my eoys the teachers decided i should move up a set, to set 2. The thing is, i dont want to move, because the reason ive gotten better at maths is because of my teacher. The school saves the best teachers for bottom set, obvs, and apparently the teacher in the set above me doesnt acc teach anything, js hands out worksheets and expects the students to do it. I told my current teacher i dont want to move, and she said I should speak to Mr ---, but then said that she would speak to Mr---.

So i didnt go to speak to him, and yest I had another maths lesson and she said I'm moving soon. Im going to go speak to Mr--- today, but idk what else to do. The thing is, all the sets do higher, so its not going to effect me negatively to not move, in fact would probably help me (because of the better teacher). Ik i sound like a bit of a b**** rn, but ik it wont be good for me. I will probs move up then down again. My parents agree w my decision, so I might get them to email the school if they say no. Other than that idk what to do

As my dad says, 'In this world, you have to be selfish sometimes, to get anywhere'

pls dont think Im a b****, I js kno i work best where I am

Consider asking mr_____ yourself.
Or what I would do is get your parent/carer/guardian to email them both and explain your perspective and how your current teacher's,teaching style just "works" for you
If you truly believe moving sets will affect your performance then it is worth saying something

Your dad is right, it's your education and I don't see how you are in the wrong for simply wanting the best option for yourself. It's not going to massively affect the teachers or the school, but it could make a big difference to you. Make sure you get your parents to write an email! Also, just as a thought, have you ever watched the GCSE Maths Tutor yt videos? He is so good at explaining every concept, he does detailed walkthroughs of all the questions, he basically saved my maths GCSE.

i went and asked Mr --- today and he said no, because if he lets me stay he has to let 25 other ppl stay as well
it wasnt the best convo, he said i didnt have a choice and if i disagreed then i should take it up with my current maths teacher next yr (cos she gonna be headmistress next yr)
i was told ill be moving week after next, and that i was lucky i was forewarned that ill be moving
i think ill get my parents to email, but i dont think it will do anything cos i said all there was to say

@Hannahblossom yh i think ill have to resort to maths tutor lol. and cognito
im so annoyed but such is life
as the maths teacher says 'this is good practise for life, because sometimes in life you have to do what you dont want to' (thats what i was told when i said i dont want to move)

That is so annoying, pretty mean of Mr if you ask me 😠. But yeah, such is life. To be honest, I got to a point in Yr 10 where my mum couldn't teach me maths anymore (homeschooled) so I just used yt because I had noone to help and I didn't have a clue what I was doing. So ig just make the best of it, unless your parents' email works...

It's not that different really; you buy the textbooks and book exams through a private candidate exam centre. Fortunately the school I sat the exams with also let me do the science practicals with them. If they hadn't I would have had to do iGCSE sciences. In terms of the other subjects, my parents taught me, and at one point I just got the hang of it and self-taught myself a lot of the gcse content.
