considering degree apprenticeship after A-Levels & military Service

Hello everyone, I am an overseas student pursuing A-levels in the UK as a Year 12 student where I could use some guidance about what lies ahead. My original intention was to attend university after finishing my A-levels. However, I heard about the degree apprenticeships recently and this sounds like a less costly alternative for me. As an international student, the university costs way too much.

Here's a bit more about my situation:
Military Service: Being Korean, I plan to serve in the military for one and a half years after my A-levels. This means I'll be around 21-22 years old when I finish my service and start my degree apprenticeship.
Career Interests: I am very interested in pursuing a career in the business field.
Current Grades: Unfortunately, my predicted grades are not great: Business: C, Maths: C, Geography: C. Before coming to the UK, I was in an international high school in Korea with a decent GPA of 3.5 (9th grade -11th grade).
Transition to the UK: I moved to the UK by myself because studying here was cheaper. I arrived two months late and struggled to catch up with the work due to a lack of motivation.
Improving My CV: I know that to get an apprenticeship, I'll need a strong CV. I'm planning to complete some online certificates, MOOCs, and gain more work experience during the summer break (I already have experience working in a convenience store).
International Foundation Diploma (IFD): Given my current performance, my teacher has recommended that I switch to an International Foundation Diploma (IFD) for the next school year instead of continuing with A-levels. I'm trying to figure out if this is the right move for me and how it might impact my career plans.

My Questions:
Is switching to an IFD a good idea given my current grades?
Will an IFD be recognized and valued for degree apprenticeships in the business field?
How should I structure my CV and what additional experiences or certifications should I focus on to improve my chances for a degree apprenticeship?
Does anyone have experience with balancing military service and then transitioning into a degree apprenticeship or similar path?

Hey,

Degree apprenticeships are definitely a good option.

I can't help you with any of the specific military questions however I have a lot of experience helping people get into degree apprenticeships.

If you want, I can send through some resources which will help you with writing a high quality CV and becoming an attractive candidate as well as a list of work experience opportunities which are available right now. If you'd be interested in these resources, let me know and I'll drop them here in the chat.

All the best.

Most of the degree apprenticeships are for UK citizens, who have to live in the UK for the last 3 years. If you are an international student, plus going back to Korea (will not be living in the UK for the last 3 years before application), I'm not sure it will work for you

Can I apply it with youth mobility scheme visa then? And since youth mobility is only 2 years is there other way I can extend my visa?

I have no idea, you should investigate it yourself, but please read carefully all the requirements for the degree apprenticeships, the minimum requirements are not flexible. UK citizenship is a must, as the degree apprenticeships are subsidised by UK government. Probably there are some companeies who accept international students or those who are on visas, but you should search for it.
