medicine at Uob

im in year 12, hoping to do medicine at uob
my gcses meet the requirments except for maths as uob are asking for a minimum of grade 6 and i got a 5
Even if my predicted grades meet the requirements, would it be worth applying to medicine with a 5 in maths
because i'd have to also sit the ucat as well so there'd be no point sitting the ucat if i stand no chance
someone pls help!!

GCSE requirements are hard requirements for unis normally. If you applied with a 5 in GCSE Maths and they require a 6 you would be automatically rejected usually. You should plan to retake the maths GCSE to get a 6 if you want to apply to that medical school. Typically resitting a GCSE to meet a minimum grade requirement is not an issue for medical schools.
I agree, it'll be an automatic rejection unless you are retaking.
hi! back when i was applying i had the same issue and best bet is to resit the gcse (in your case would be in sept/nov) time and then put it down as a prediction on ucas when you apply , theres no point in applying if youre just going to leave the 5 as that wil get you rejected !

Generally, to resit your maths is your best option, but if UOB is Birmingham, they do not usually accept GCSE resits, htough other med schools do
