MiM and then immediately MBA

Hey Guys,

I aim at in studying in oxford, My undergrad GPA is very bad (6.1). So I thought I will do one year MiM in UK (in 2024k and then apply for MBA after 2 terms( in 2025) at Oxford. I got offer from university of Sussex for MiM.

Do you think the above strategy is good and increase my chances of getting offer from Oxford? (studying MiM in sussex and then after 2 semester with strong GMAT score applying for oxford).

Note: I got comments that it would double expenditure, but for me finance is not a problem and I am ready to spend time, money and effort, ultimately aim is to get into Oxford B-school

Have you got 2+yrs professional work experience?
If you do have the necessary work exp, I think the inference from this bit of their FAQ is that MIM study elsewhere won't be considered, only strong professional experience and decent GMAT/GRE scores:

"Is there a minimum degree/GPA level requirement?

We welcome applications from candidates with a First or Upper Second Class (2.1) undergraduate degree or GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 (or the international equivalent). However, we will also consider candidates with lower degree classifications if they demonstrate strong career progression and competitive GMAT/GRE scores."

I have 2.5 years work experience in a startup, and I evolved from a programmer to a Product manager and lead a team of 20+ people and 5+ clients. Apart from that I come from an entrepreneurial family and we have 2 IT companies with more than 5000 employes. I lead on of the major division in that.

Personally I think you may still struggle to be considered as 2yrs is the minimum for any candidate, so they would need something substantially over that to make up for the GPA deficit.

However it would be worthwhile dropping them a line to discuss your circumstances - [email protected]

exactly, that's why I was asking will MiM ( good score) and string GMAT make up for the low CGPA?

I don't work at Oxbridge, but from my experience in postgrad admissions and understanding of their appetite for transfers, I don't think it will but only they can answer for sure.
