The Student Room Group

Hello

Hi Everyone

I'm Mike, I have just turned 51 today and currently awaiting my 5th Open University result for S319 Geology and Sustainability which I finished in May this year.

I registered for S283 Planetary Science & The Search For Life starting in October this year.

I have dyspraxia and dyslexia which were officially confirmed in September 2019 and I am currently awaiting official Aspergers and ADHD tests at this time. I have been on the waiting list for the Aspergers and ADHD tests since December 2018 when I ended up in hospital with Pneumonia to which I almost lost my life.

I lost my dad in February 2017 to COPD and My mum in March 2021 to an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm which has screwed me up since then as I witnessed my mum passing and felt totally helpless that there was nothing I could do to prevent it happening.

As a result of their passing on and my time in hospital, I now approach each day with the process of looking at what needs to be done and getting through the tasks as best as I can.

I can offer advice on some things which will be purely based on my experience but when it comes to medical stuff, that's not a subject I know anything about.

All I ask is please don't be offended if I don't reply on subjects where I have no knowledge.

Hi @MDB512024,
I hope that you are enjoying TSR so far  your 5th Open University result- wow- congratulations! Sorry to hear about your parents, and your own health issues, that sounds difficult. Thanks for the advice you have offered to others so far, do let me know if I can help you to navigate the site in any way.

No problem at all. I do get a bit concerned that some members might possibly find me to be a bit abrupt in my advice and might try to report me for being nasty.

However, I would like to assure you that if ever that does happen, it's not for the sake of deliberately being nasty nut there are a lot of things I have experienced in the past and consequently some of the things I say may end up being a bit more strongly worded than is intended at the time as I was bullied at both primary and secondary schools from age 5 - 15 ( almost 16 by the time I finished secondary school ) so if at any point you do see any strongly worded replies I hereby offer my apologies in advance as of the addition of this post.

I can't believe that I have still got another 12 days to wait until I get my 5th result whichever way it goes.

Can I ask please, do you often get members posting on subjects they want to talk about but that no matter how much advice the OP gets they won't let the subject go until they have run out of things to say about it ?

It's just so I can prepare for future reference as I sometimes get a bit intolerant of what might seem like people whining as in some of the relationships conversations that have been going on lately.

This may be due to my possible Aspergers and ADHD for which I am still awaiting official tests for nearly 6 years after the original request was submitted to my GP practice.

I am enjoying being on here but as I said I don't want to possibly become disrespectful to members who won't let subject go so with those I will just steer clear of those particular subjects.

Good morning  It doesn't look like you have anything to worry about at the moment and if you try to stick to the community guidelines, here: Community Guidelines, you should stay on the right track. Sorry to hear about your own experiences at school, that sounds like it was difficult. If you are feeling like you are starting to get a bit intolerant in a thread, I'd suggest coming away from it for a bit and then maybe returning the next day- you may then decide that you don't want to continue being a part of the conversation, or you may feel like you have some constructive things to say after you have taken a break.
Glad you are enjoying it so far!
