A level choosing confusion

I’m most interested in RS, sociology and psychology for A levels and I think I can do well in them. Although I’m scared doing sociology and RS will make me appear unable and waffly to an employer. I’m also slightly interested in biology and I got an 8 in the latest mocks but I’ve heard it has a very large amount of content and harsh marking so I’ve been reluctant to take it. I’ve also been thinking about business studies but this is apparently not respected and not taken seriously by universities. Btw I think I wanna do a degree in psychology or business management. Any advice would be much appreciated 🤗.

Hi I’m currently studying business and although it is fairly “easy” unis do take it seriously as a subject and as I am ant to study law at uni I’m finding it as useful as a subject like history. It is really what you want to do when you’re older. I suggest picking a subject that is “easier” as it takes so much pressure of the workload and in de facto an A is an A and it doesn’t really matter what subject it is. So I suggest obviously picking the a levels you enjoy and think you will do well in but also don’t take on too much work because you will pay for it. Psychology is a heavyweight subject and will take a lot of time sociology and business I think would be a good combo.

Hi @David havington,

If possible, I'd try and keep your A-Level subjects relevant to the subject/field you hope to study at university - so, if you want to do a degree in Psychology or Business Management, Business Studies and Psychology would probably be some of the best A-Levels to take. Your other subjects can be chosen based on what you think you'd do best in/enjoy most; Sociology and RS might be of use as they're essay-based subjects like the other two, but Biology might give you a bit of STEM variety to your subject choice.

Good luck with your subject choices! 😁
