writing in exam in pencil

have i failed for writing some of my chemistry paper 2 in pencil it was some mechanisms and maybe a few questions, will this not be marked?
please respond im so so nervous as i may have failed

If its just diagrams, you should be fine. If its the actual questions, I am pretty sure it all depends on the markers, and whether or not the writing is visible, but there is a chance that they might mark them, assuming they can read them and they understand that it was done during the exam. I wouldn't count on it, but there is a good chance

My understanding is that the rules around what writing instruments to use are there to ensure that when the exam scripts are scanned, they get scanned well enough that the markers can read them.

So if what you've written scans well enough to be read on screen, it will get marked.

If what you've written can't be read easily, but it's clear you wrote something, then the physical exam script will be retrieved and that will be marked.

The problem will be if the answer area appears to have nothing at all written in it, then the assumption would be that you didn't answer that question.

But all that is just my understanding, and I could be wrong. It might be worth you having a quick chat with your school/college exams officer, who will hopefully be able to set your mind at ease.
