Self teaching highers?

I wasn’t able to be put into a biology class this year, but the subject is really important to me. Is it possible? How does it work & how do I do it? What steps do I take?

Hi,
I self taught higher Chemistry this year, and I just worked my way through the course spec then went to class when it was time to complete the assignment.
Im expecting an A.
You should deff talk to your guidance teacher to see if that is possible.
And use the 2 in 1 book when revising. (it helped me sm when i did Higher biology in S5)

Bummer you couldn't get into bio this year. It's definitely a key subject. Usually, schools have a process for adding classes mid-year. Best bet is to chat with your school counselor ASAP.
Are you in S5 or S6? If the former, you could always do Higher Biology next year.

I‘m not sure about higher biology as I didn’t do any sciences past Nat5, but I self studied Higher Modern Studies last year and got an A. I was given course notes and assignments along with the class, and used textbooks and online resources (esp stuff on YouTube) to make sure I knew what I was doing. I’d say if you’re really motivated it’s totally possible, definitely make use of SQA course specs
