I wanna go to a concert but I’ll have to ask my stict mum to pay it for me

Hi there, I just finished my a levels and just broken up for summer break and beabadoobee just announced her UK tour. The thing is I have the money for it but not on my card (since it’s inactive rn) and I have strict Asian parents and I’ll doubt they’ll help me pay for it, In return of cash ofc.. ive missed 3 of her tours that I really wanted to go to but idk how to somehow persuade them to help me pay (by card)? Idk I’m in a muddle rn and I can’t convince them otherwise plus I’m 18 now so they can’t just not let me go 😭 (this is my 2nd concert too so I’m sure my parents are worried) [PLS HELP IM DESPERATE]

A) why is your card inactive. B) How much is the ticket. C) Do you have any way of borrowing money from someone else or working for it. D) How much time do you have.
In terms of being 18 and having strict parents: yep we're in the same boat.

A) I just got a new card and i don’t know how to activate it B) £38 C) I’ve got enough to pay for it but I don’t know anyone who is willing to pay online D) probably until tonight bc tickets are selling fast

Either ring up the bank and ask them to help you activate it, or just ask your mum if she can pay for you for now? I know some parents are hard to ask for things like that but you just say "Mum, I really really want to ask you for your help." Maybe offer to not only pay it back but also to help with chores/etc. Say you really need something to relax after you've worked so hard at Alevels. "Do you think you could just pay for this ticket for just 38 pounds, it's selling out soon and I really want to go mum, please". That's how I'd do it. Sorry you're in this situation though :frown:

I have strict asian parents too and the only time they let me go to a concert was bc i was going with my friend where she too, also has strict asian parents. Aside from that, I've missed out of so many concerts. I love beabadoobee and I also hope to see her live. I hope you do too. As long as you're going with someone and you really layer on the "I worked so hard for a-levels, please" PLUS it's the second time your going to a concert - the odds will be in ur favour. Also remember that when it comes towards the concerts, many people may just start selling their tickets - especially on twitter. So if you can't buy a ticket now, if ur lucky u can still get one

Yes!! OP should say they're going with a responsible friend, that they promise not to do anything parents wouldn't do and agree to as many conditions as possible!

I got the tickets and I did promise my mum that I'm going to work and do as many things for them as much as I can! however I am going on my own so hopefully when uni comes around the corner I will find some friends that may also be seeing beabadoobee! <3

I felt this pain!! My parents started to chill in university when it came to concerts but not other things. Now I'm a young parent and haven't experienced many of the things my friends have (e.g travelling, clubbing) and I believe they feel a little bad now?

Can you ask a trusted friend to pay for it then pay them back? It's risky but the only option I can think of.

Edit: Yay congrats

Are you able to get a job that will give you some financial independence?

I generally worked 15 -25 hours per week through college and University and full time in the holidays.
