Help have I left post grad applications too late ?

Hi so I’m a final year law student, I wanted to apply for LLM (SQE1&2) at the university of Law.
I was dealing with some health stuff these past months especially and also stupidly got down the wrong deadline date which yes is completely my fault. I just found out that the deadline for The University of Law for LLM endsTODAY ( 21st of June ) Although I have worked on my personal statement it needs a bit of fine tuning . I was thinking of pulling an all nighter and submitting it in the morning. I’ve made such a stupid mistake . Do you think there’s a chance they would accept it ? Is it worth trying ? Is there anywhere else I could apply for LLM (SQE1&2) .I mainly hear of people talking about the university of law for post grad with law and I’ve heard it’s a good university . Im aware I don’t have time on my side and I feel so anxious . Have I ruined anny chance of getting into LLM masters (SQE1&2). Any advice appreciated

Based on my experience as a practising lawyer and a teacher of law, I do not have a high opinion of the University of Law. It's a business, not a traditional university centered on research. It's popular because it offers the professional training courses which other universities tend not to offer. There are much better places to study law, so don't worry about missing the deadline for the UoL.

I'm curious, why do you want to do an LLM?

I wouldn't go to BPP if you are looking for an academic law degree, but if you are looking for professional exams, it's probably OK. Both BPP and UoL are mainly about professional courses. For academic study and the full university experience, choose a more traditional university that is led by research.

Hi Amber,

Did you manage to get your application in on time?

I am a current MSc Criminology student at YSJ, I didn't apply to do my masters until after I had received my undergraduate overall results. So I applied late July/ early August. There's quite a few university's that do offer Law postgraduate course, so you definitely haven't ruined your chances of doing the course.

I would recommend that you attend a few postgraduate open days/evenings and talk to current students on those courses, it's the best way to find out what the course is really like and if you would enjoy being at that university.

YSJ offers Legal Practice LLM (LPC), which includes SQE 1 and 2. I've linked it below for you, if you wanted to have a look.

Legal Practice (LPC) LLM | York St John University (yorksj.ac.uk)
Postgraduate | York St John University (yorksj.ac.uk)

If you have any questions about doing a masters course at YSJ, I'm happy to answer any questions.
