You won’t be guaranteed anything, and data in the post covid world is fairly small (only one “normal” cycle).
Historically, people with strong grades will have options at high quality institutions (i.e. Bristol/loughborough/Sheffield/Southampton/Nottingham/Bath), but they go relatively fast & there is a good chance some of these unis have 0 places (particularly Bristol).
If you have grades ABB+ you’ll most likely have good opportunities at other well respected institutions, just potentially not at the strongest profile engineering faculties such as the ones listed above. But all the same very good places.
Typically there have been opportunities for students who have grades below this as well at more average reputation courses & universities, but there are still some good opportunities, places such as Coventry, Brunel & Brookes have very good engineering departments (stronger then the rest of the university) but have in the past had more lenient clearing grade requirements.
Id advise having a plan for all eventualities, id say you’ll probably find good opportunities for whatever grades you have but nothing is guaranteed and re-applying in the next cycle/resitting/foundation years are also things you can consider if you don’t find what you want.
The good thing with engineering is it has high industry demand for people & commercial opportunities for investing in future technologies as such lots of universities have big faculties so there tends to be better ratio of places to applicant, compared to other STEM courses.
