Equipment required for university

I am planning on studying Biomedical Science in September and was wondering what I would need for the course. I have a 5 year old Surface which I'm looking to upgrade. Is it worth getting an iPad which also has touchscreen or is it fine to get a laptop instead?

This may not be the most helpful input but does the uni you're going to let you borrow a laptop? If it does then maybe it's not worth buying one for uni.

Hey there, I am a second year biomedical Science student at ARU Cambridge.
Everyone is different and have a variety of needs when it comes to equipment. I personally have a laptop and an iPad. I use my laptop to write essays, read lecture material etc. Then will use my iPad to annotate lecture slides, and as it is smaller and more portable, will take this to classes. I sometimes use pen and paper too. I understand it is not realistic to get both, so out of the two would recommend an iPad if you were to choose one. As you can use it in the same way as a laptop, as well as write and use it as a notebook. Also, your university should have a laptop loaning system. There are also laptops which can be used as an iPad if this works for you?
Hope this helps,

Simran

As someone who has a laptop and an ipad, if the laptop is still working fine then get the ipad. If the laptop is falling apart/frustrating to use please get a better laptop. The laptop is an absolute MUUUUSSSSTTT in uni. The ipad is secondary <3
