Hi all,
I am very curious to hear what it’s like to study on the DCounsPsy at the university of Manchester, in terms of research intensive’s and quality of teaching (especially in comparison to the DPsych Counselling Psychology programmes in other non-Russell group universities).
How come some professional doctorates I. Counselling psychology as for research proposals and others don’t?
And even though the accreditation is the same, does the university influence the scope of employability after graduation?
The Asian in me wonders if more rigorous equals better quality and prospects overall, even though the end accreditation is the same. I didn’t get to apply to Manchester this year because I was way too consumed with my assignments on my current Masters in counselling studies, so I just didn’t have the bandwidth. But now I’m wondering if I should wait another year and apply to Manchester next year? I’m touching 30 and culturally, age is a huge factor for me. But I’m wondering if it’s worth it to wait a year to be able to apply to Manchester or if other unis are able to provide comparable quality of education. I have the required work experience, as well as 2 Masters degrees that include a COSCA counselling skills certificate, so I believe I would stand a real chance of getting accepted.
