Natural sciences with a specialty in chemistry?

Hi all,

I’m thinking of doing BSc (Hons) Natural sciences (chemistry).

What do people think about this? Would it be a respected degree to employers or doing a masters? Thank you.

Hi!
I'm in my third year of a four-year integrated master's course in natural sciences at Lancaster studying physics and environmental sciences. I have friends studying natural sciences who are going on to both specialist masters and jobs in various industries. I think natural sciences is increasingly well-regarded as it provides students with interdisciplinary skills and a unique outlook and problem-solving mindset. In many research areas in academia, studies are increasingly multidisciplinary in areas such as biophysics, climate change and materials sciences so having a natural sciences degree can give you an advantage in some ways.
Personally I have really enjoyed studying natural sciences as I have been able to focus on my interests and this has given me increased motivation to study during my degree and also has helped me to get two internships during the course of my degree so far, as both related to the areas of intersection between physics and environmental sciences.
Hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask,
Becky (Lancaster university natural sciences ambassador)
