1% off next degree grade… what should I do?

Hey guys. I hope everyone is well.

I have received my degree classification (but haven’t graduated yet, meant to originally be graduating in July). I am just trying to decide whether to just graduate in July as originally scheduled or to push my graduation back to December.

I spoke to some teachers at my university and they said if I redo an exam and get a higher grade in that then I can boost the overall degree grade, but this would mean that I would delay my graduation. I don’t know anyone else who is graduating at the later date, and already have things lined up for after it, like internships and jobs and also travelling.

The grade I got was 1% off a 2.1; what would you guys do?

Thanks in advance and take care

I have been lucky enough to have secured two job offers from firms I did internships at, and they are not dependent on the grades I get, but just in general for the future, would you say I should take up the retake option? (Deadline to decide is Tuesday)

And get a worse grade? That can still occur you know.

Depends on whether you meet the requirements of your job offers now. If you would still meet those requirements then it may be reasonable to just graduate and go right into work since after your first job or two as a graduate, your degree result is much less important.

If you've not met the requirements of those jobs offers and the offer will be withdrawn then you have nothing to lose by retaking and graduating later since you don't have an offer anyway.

It's ultimately a personal choice but given you gave the jobs lined up regardless of your degree outcome I might be inclined to suggest just getting on with life and starting your career. Unless they're happy for you to graduate later after you start having retaken the exam (which is probably unlikely)

Thank you everyone so far for your insight. I really appreciate it.

Would you say that, for Law this grade will be quite bad for job prospects as a general rule? As this is what I feel and what I have heard so far.
