Driving lessons without an instructor?

I want to get a drivers licence but without the expensive hassle of finding an instructor and booking lessons.

My dad is really supportive about helping me out so I’m wondering if he’s allowed to let me drive his car in the same way people drive cars with instructors

Is it possible to then book a driving test without evidence of having attended any driving lessons? Or is it compulsory to have an actual instructor

You can learn with any friend or relative in a private car providing that they have held a full licence for that category for at least 3 years and they are over 21. You can take a test in any properly insured car and you don't need to use an instructor if you don't want to. There's a book you can get from Amazon called Teaching a Learner Driver which you and your dad may find useful.
