How to stop making silly maths mistakes

Hi all,

I really understand the maths pure A Level (Edexcel) content, (not the applied haha!) but I keep making silly silly stupid mistakes. I also run out of time a lot and also keep misreading the question

Mistakes I might make:
- Using sin instead of cos
- Mixing up logarithms
- Substituting in the wrong number
- Mistaking signs (+/-)

I don't know what to do and they're so prevelant that it drags me from an A* to an A.

Help!!

hiyaa im just like u i make literally every possible mistake its actually so depressing 😭

but what i have done it improve it is to write literally every possible step of working out like to the point where its really excessive but when i do that i barley ever make mistakes i also slowed down a lot because i normally finish exam papers in 30-40 mins and then check but its sm better to go slow through the paper because it helps u avoid mistakes also its kinda weird but i narrate what im doing in my head a lot so if what im saying in my head does not correspond with what im writing its obvious right away also if u go on YouTube you can find a lot of hacks to check answers in exams so i check my answer if possible straight after ive done the question and if its different to what it should be i redo it straight away (its important u do it right away for me at least) and i will try other methods until i can get the answer er it should be

also if ur constantly making silly mistakes on certain topics i reccommed doing a ton of questions on that particular topic and checking the ms after you have done each question to identify where u went wrong i normally just check the answer and redo the question until i get that answer and compare what i did differently and it helps a lot with mistakes

lmk if that helps ! i still make a concerning amount of mistakes but its a lot better than it used to be
